A shared space for exploring, learning,
and helping build the future of Packback
Packback Labs is our shared space for exploring what comes next, where educators can preview new assignment ideas, offer feedback, and help us build learning experiences that strengthen critical thinking, AI literacy, and student agency. We want to understand how you are adapting your instruction, what questions your students are asking, and where new tools could help make their reasoning and growth more visible. Your insight will guide which activities we develop and which features move from concept to classroom.
AI Co-Authored Essay
Students build their draft with AI in stages, responding to planning prompts and choosing to keep, tweak, or discard the AI's suggestions paragraph by paragraph.
Instructors see a visual timeline that traces the student’s path, highlighting exactly where they accepted the AI's help and where they stepped in to make changes.
Teach the AI
In this reverse-tutoring simulation, students guide a naive AI through a topic, correcting its generated misconceptions along the way. The AI is then assessed based strictly on that dialogue.
Instructors receive a summary of how well the AI passed a final quiz based on the student's tutoring, serving as a direct proxy for the student's own mastery.
AI First Draft
Students start with the same AI-generated draft. They identify gaps for research and revise the text to strengthen their own authorial voice.
Instructors receive a visual snapshot showing exactly how far each student’s work evolved away from the original AI text.
Both Sides
Students engage in a two-round debate with an AI, arguing first for a motion and then against it.
Instructors are presented with a consolidated view that pairs the transcript of their 'side-switching' performance directly with their self-reflection, making it easy to spot moments of insight.
Claim-Source Verification
Instructors upload a key text, and the AI writes a summary that sounds confident but gets the facts wrong. Students have to read the source material to catch the AI in a lie and edit the text for accuracy.
Instructors receive a split-screen view showing the AI’s original output on one side and the student’s evidence-based revision on the right.
Voice/Video Reflection
Students participate in a context-aware video or voice chat to discuss a recent assignment. The AI adapts the conversation in real-time, challenging students to expand on their thoughts.
Instructors are presented with a summary of the key themes discussed, paired with actionable feedback for the student on how to improve their reflective thinking next time.
Peer Instruction
Students each cast an initial vote on a concept, and the system instantly pairs those with conflicting answers for a discussion/debate. An AI moderator guides the discussion, ensuring each student explains their reasoning before they re-vote.
Instructors see a visualization showing the class’s poll results before and after pairing, alongside a summary of key themes from discussions.
